Like a freelance technical writer, I'm essentially a “gun-for-hire,” in other words, a “pen-for-hire.” I focus on a contract basis to focus on assembling your shed(s), your requirements, and the technical documents and materials that you'll require.

Technical Writer

The initial freelancer, a knight who had been free of fealty to any sovereign, would be a “free lance,” in the sense he was free to fight-for-hire as needed.

Modern application of the analogy isn’t really that different. A traditional employee metaphorically swears fealty to a sovereign by agreeing to operate underneath the employer’s roof and rules. In return, the employee receives benefits. A modern freelancer, doesn't have long-term commitments to or benefits within a company. The freelancer is free to address customer needs for specific projects.

The Process/Approach
I focus on troubleshooting and development. I collaborate and connect to applicable executives, SMEs (Subject Matter Experts), trainers, other writers, and learners/readers/customers, to assess and address your needs and the ones from your visitors.
The topic matter during my jobs are rarely simple, but my approach is. I assist you to as well as your SMEs focus efforts into teaching me the appropriate material ONCE. The basic principle is: You teach me, once. I document everything, so that your SMEs can eliminate redundant questions and proceed to more productive tasks. I translate the tech-speak and jargon into language and materials right for the audience/reader/learner.
Like every hired gun, when the project is complete, I ride off in to the sunset until you (or any other customer) need my services. By working on a contract basis, I’m there if you want me, and taken care of when you don’t.
